MSA’s new SmoothDome Slotted Cap is a tough, lightweight helmet with a Fas-Trac® Suspension. It provides comfortable head protection for workers in industries who need head protection from small falling objects. Its good dielectric properties (nonconduction of electrical current) benefit workers with those concerns, and its smooth silhouette is welcomed by welders, especially those in shipbuilding and general construction. And some workers simply prefer wearing a smooth-crowned hard hat!
The SmoothDome Cap has its own distinctive Fas-Trac Suspension, defined by its bright orange crown straps. It has a warning label alerting wearers to use only THIS suspension with the SmoothDome shell.
SmoothDome Caps meet or exceed applicable requirements for a Type I (top-impact) helmet as outlined in ANSI Z89.1-2009, Class E (electrical high voltage).
However, SmoothDome caps are not specifically designed to protect against lateral blows from the front, side, or rear. (MSA’s Vanguard® Type II protective helmets are so designed and must be used if lateral protection is desired.)
SmoothDome Caps are available in seven colors: white, blue, gray, yellow, red, Hi-Viz orange, and Hi-Viz yellow/green.Specialty V-Gard Caps have that "painted look" finish. These caps are equipped with MSA's Fas-Trac® Suspension and slots to accept all MSA V-Gard Cap accessories.
SmoothDome Caps also meet the ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2009 voluntary standard for reverse donning.Approvals & Standards
SmoothDome® Slotted Caps meet all applicable requirements for a Type I (top impact) helmet as outlined in ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2009 (Class E) and CSA Z94.1-2005 (Class E)
WARNING: Do not mix suspension and helmet sizes. Make sure the sizes match (i.e., standard-size suspension with standard-size helmet). Use only MSA suspensions on an MSA helmet. Failure to comply with the above will reduce the energy-absorbing ability of the protective helmet, which can result in serious injury or death.
